⚠️ California Proposition 65 Warning – Quartz & Stone Products

Silica (Crystalline Silica) Safety Notice

Quartz and engineered stone products supplied by Eastern Construction Supplies Inc. contain a high percentage of crystalline silica (SiO₂), typically ranging from approximately 70% to 93%.

The finished product is safe under normal use conditions. However, fabrication activities such as cutting, grinding, drilling, sanding, or polishing may generate respirable crystalline silica dust.

Exposure to respirable crystalline silica dust is known to cause serious health hazards, including:

  • Silicosis (a progressive and irreversible lung disease)
  • Chronic lung damage
  • Reduced pulmonary function
  • Increased risk of lung cancer

According to OSHA and California Proposition 65, crystalline silica is classified as a known human carcinogen.

To reduce exposure risk:

  • Use wet cutting methods
  • Utilize proper ventilation and dust collection systems
  • Wear NIOSH-approved respiratory protection
